Sebastian Kienle back in Heilbronn
Van Vlerken starts again
After a two years break, Sebastian Kienle, triathlete of the Tri-Team Heuchelberg, returns to the starting line of his home race in Heilbronn. Kienle, winner of the IRONMAN Hawaii 2014 and multiple European Long Distance Champion, sent a video message from the training camp in South Africa, announcing his start and telling that he is very happy to come back to the Sparkassen Challenge Heilbronn powered by AUDI.
The other already announced professionals promise an exciting men’s race on Sunday n17th of June 17 2018. Kienle will compete with last year’s third Horst Reichel from Darmstadt and his training partner Markus Rolli, Ironman 70.3 Thailand winner 2017. And with the Swiss Sven Riederer, a multiple Olympic participant is at the start, who is meanwhile doing the long and middle distance and four weeks ago he was able to secure an excellent second place at the Ironman 70.3 Dubai.
Especially for the ladies, Yvonne Van Vlerken has one more bill left for the race. In 2017, the Dutchwoman crashed on the bike course, this year Van Vlerken wants to complete the bike course and be the first to enter the marketplace and finish line in Heilbronn. Competitors for the win are the reigning German champion over the half-distance Lena Berlinger of Mengen’s triathletes, 2016 already third in Heilbronn, and Simona Křivánková from the Czech Republic. She will start for the first time in Heilbronn.
It will be interesting to see who else joins the race in the upcoming weeks for the fourth edition of the race as “Challenge Heilbronn” over the half distance with 1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21 km running. Currently more than 1,300 athletes from 30 nations have registered. All interested triathletes should apply until 15 th of March getting the final discounted entry fees. With this professional starting field, the ninth triathlon in Heilbronn will definitely be another highlight.
